So. What did come out of the very first Ottawa Web Weekend?
The answer is reBookMe, a new web service that turns cancellations into reservations.
We have a pretty good idea of where we are going. Everybody left exhausted but very enthusiastic and motivated. Some of us are actually meeting on Wednesday to see where we are going from here. Participants seem to strongly believe that we are on to something good. So do I.
As the event organizer, I am thrilled that it went so well. Mark Blevis is actually wondering if how we all collaborated over the Weekend isn’t perhaps the future model of conferences. Great!
Speaking of Mark, he and Natasha D’Souza will take care of communications regarding reBookMe.com from now on.
News about the product will be available on reBookMe.com from now on.
After all the fun we’ve had, I certainly see a Ottawa Web Weekend 2 happen next fall.

In less than 2 hours, the Ottawa Web Weekend will be over. Many of us start to feel the impact of working so intensively over the last 48 hours. Tired we are but I think everybody is very proud of what we have accomplished.
The dev team is working hard so they can show the rest of the group a demo of the product. We will do that during our wrap up meeting at 8.30PM, the last item on the agenda. We will then reveal to the world what we have been up to for the last 3 days.
The business team is putting the final touch to the financial forecast.
The legal team, Kim, is working quietly refining the user agreement for the product.
The design/integration team is going through Photoshop and CSS files at a frantick pace to implement our branding.
The marketing team is putting on paper the extraordinary experience we were part of.
It’s mothers’ day so some had to leave but some said they might come back for our final meeting.
The end is coming…

One of the participants, Mark Blevis, just talked to us about his podcasting experience and specially, Electric Sky, where he talked with pretty amazing people.
It’s on haitus right now but it surely is worth checking it out.

There are only 11 minutes left before day 2 of the Ottawa Web Weekend is over.
We had a fantastic day. Quite frankly, it went so well, beyond what I had in mind organizing the Weekend.
About 25 people work on the product today, and they are amazing. We have a good product idea and research showed us that we are on the right track.
We will share it with you tomorrow once it is over.
Couldn’t be happier!
Marc

We’re minutes away from wrapping up a 12-hour day of planning, designing and coding. Business plans, marketing strategies, web-interfaces, back-end databases are all underway and getting stronger as we go.I took a few minutes to speak with Bruce Nolan — who has taken on the role of Development Coordinator — about the status of development efforts and his approach to coordinating the team.

Ottawa Web Weekend is taking place in the future home of The Code Factory, a collaborative, co-working space founded by Ian Graham. The facilities are still under construction, heading towards a launch on May 20. Ian was kind enough to give me a tour.
My favourite part of this tour is when we walk into what Ian refers to as ‘the smallest office’ which sounds like a massive cavern in this audio recording.
