We’ve got a date and we’ve got a place

March 11th, 2008

I am pleased to say that Ottawa Web Weekend will be on May 9-11, 2008.

It will take place at TheCodeFactory downtown on Queen St.

We will start the registration process soon.

Can’t wait!

Date change: For our university friends…

February 27th, 2008

I got feedback from people attending university saying April 4-6 was not the best time for them to take part in the Weekend…and I remember how it was.

So, we’re postponing the weekend to the beginning for May (2-4 or 9-11) so it better fits with their schedule.

We’ll keep you posted.

Blitzweekend

February 23rd, 2008

Just a quick reminder that Blitzweekend Montréal is next weekend. The organizers are looking for a team (2-4 members) from Ottawa. If you are interested, register here.

Weekend Update

February 20th, 2008

Hi everybody,

we are looking for a venue for the Weekend. We don’t need anything complicated:

  • A place big enough where we can get around 50 people working togheter (if possible, a big room where we can hold meetings and smaller ones to work in).
  • A place easy to get to (either downtown or close to the Transitway?)
  • Available from Friday around 5PM to Sunday around 10PM.

In exchange, we are ready to advertise any organization that will provide us with a working space on our website (this one and the weekend’s app one).

Write us if you got something.

Blitzweekend Montréal

February 3rd, 2008

The folks in Montréal are organizing a Blitzweekend, similar to Startup Weekends, Bar Camp and Ruby Rumbles. The difference is that teams of 1 to 8 members work a single project, by opposition to the whole group. The weekend will run from February 29th to March 2nd.

For more info, visit http://blitzweekeng.com/ or send an e-mail to hello [at] blitzweekend [dot] com.

Individual Skills + Local-ish

January 26th, 2008

Check out this post from the Seattle SW’s blog.

I think there is one key element here: How great is the idea from all the points of view (Dev, Biz, User Experience, etc.)?

I was disappointed by our choice in Toronto because I could hardly see any business model behind it while I think the concept is pretty good from community perspective.
